In just a short amount of time upon arriving to Los Angeles (January 16, 2005) Kamal Symonette-Dixon (Actor/Writer) was able to create a buzz in the Hollywood comedy scene. He created a well received live sketch comedy show entitled "KSD's Chicken & Waffles" that debuted on November 11, 2005 at the Friars of Beverly Hills; the show had a packed house. Over three hundred people attended the debut and after 300, people had to start being turned away at the door. Kamal produced the show, directed the show, wrote all the sketches for the show, and starred in the show along with a cast of actors he hired. (And no, this was not an improv comedy show. All the sketches were written by Kamal and these written sketches were thoroughly rehearsed.) The house band playing throughout the sketch show is called Se7ven, an LA band Kamal handpicked for KSD's Chicken & Waffles live show. Kamal even had the Friars chef cook actual plates of chicken and waffles and place the option of chicken and waffles on the menu for the audience. By the end of the night, the Friars actually ran out of chicken and waffles.... Within less than a year of KSD's Chicken & Waffles debut, a television pilot was filmed for KSD's Chicken & Waffles at CBS Studios in LA during Spring 2006 by the illustrious Red Line Films, a film company who has won over 20 Emmys.
